If you’re looking to join us at Canterbury Little Athletics, it’s important that you read through the information and understand the family volunteer commitment prior to registering your child.
Athletics, and Little Athletics, is a sport which requires a LARGE number of volunteers in order to operate. Outside of our volunteer Committee and Age Managers who commit to the entire season (and in some cases, all year!), here’s an example of the roles we need to fill each week: track marshals, age group helpers, canteen servers, set up team, timing and results helpers, lap counters, hurdle marshals and the all important chefs on the BBQ!
The duty bond component of your registration fees is fully refunded at the end of the season provided all duty requirements have been met. The duty requirement for the 22/23 season is 8 duties per family. As a general guide, parents/carers will need to volunteer at least once every two weeks in a role and we welcome you to get involved every week. You may find it daunting but it’s really important to connect with your fellow CLAC parents and you know what? It can actually be fun! We also have some great resources to help you through the season.
When completing your registration, you will be taken through a fee break down for each athlete which will include a LANSW State Fee and a Canterbury Little Athletics Centre Fee.
The next page will include the Duty bond component of your fees. This box needs to be ticked ONCE PER FAMILY (see below)
The duty bond is a mandatory component of your registration at CLAC. Please ensure you have checked this box ONCE (we suggest checking it for your first child). This bond will be returned at the end of the season provided all duty requirements have been met. For more information on parent duty requirements please visit here.
NB: Registrations will be checked. Any family that has not paid the duty bond component will not be able to collect registration bibs/packs until the bond has been paid. No athlete will be allowed to compete without a current 22/23 registration bib.
