Zone Championships

There is no club competition on the Friday night prior to the Zone Championship weekend.

Zone event entries are by athlete application.  Any athlete in the U7-U17 age groups are invited and encouraged to nominate.   It is a fun weekend where athletes have the chance to compete against athletes from other centres, cheer on their team mates and experience the Canterbury Club Spirit.
The 2022 Inner City Zone Championships will take place on *10 & 11 December*. Events usually commence at 8.30am each day, with a marshalling call for the first event at 8.00am.
Zone nomination entries close on 23 November 2022.

Zone Championships are conducted in each of the 23 Zones throughout the State. Canterbury is in the Inner City Zone along with, Eastern Suburbs, South Eastern, Randwick-Botany, Inner West, Balmain and Tiger Wests.

Number of events that can be entered per age group:
  • U7-U11 age groups may compete in four (4) events plus a relay.
  • U12-U17 age groups may compete in six (6) events plus a relay.

Note: Canterbury can only enter five athletes in each event per age group (U7 – U11 only). If more than five athletes wish to enter an event, entry will be based on results and participation at Club competition on Friday nights. You will be contacted in this instance to provide an alternate event choice.

Events on the day: As a parent/carer it is your responsibility to ensure your child gets to marshalling on time. You are less likely to miss a call if you are sitting in the Canterbury seating area.

Parent RosterYou will be expected to complete a duty at the carnival, as per Parent Duty Levy requirements. Remember it is a condition of your child’s entry that you assist on one of the days. An online roster will be set up for this event, once we receive more information.

Please note that every competitor at Zone championships, must have full club uniform with correct patches attached. This includes:
* Canterbury or plain black shorts (above the knee)
* Canterbury club singlet or crop top
* An age patch on the left hand side of the chest.
* A Coles patch on the right hand side of the chest.
* A 2024-25 registration number in the centre of the singlet or crop top.

Please ensure that all uniforms meet the above requirements as these are strictly enforced and athletes will not be able to compete in incorrect uniform.
U7 athletes do not progress past the Zone Championships. 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings will receive a medal on the day.
U8-U17 are able to qualify for the Regional Championships.

How to enter:

There will be a $15 per athlete levy that is payable by credit card when you submit your online nomination. This helps to cover the cost of hiring of the venue and associated costs.
The parents of all athletes competing MUST commit to undertaking a rostered duty (approx. 2 hours) at the Zone Championship. Zone is a massive program and the events simply cannot run without the help of parents and carers.

Please note:  Zone Championship Entry is by online nomination only.

Event Championships is open to all athletes from the U7-U17 age groups.
