About Us

Canterbury Athletics Club is affiliated with Athletics NSW, as part of a joint partnership from the 2024/25 season with Athletics NSW. Athletes must be registered before competing.

We run competition nights each Friday from 6pm, between September and March at Campbell Field, Canterbury. Finish times vary depending on the number of athletes present on competition night and the weekly event program. There is a mid-season break over the Christmas/New Year period.

Little Athletics is run entirely by parent volunteers, with an emphasis on family, fun and fitness. Our competition nights require a lot of parents getting involved in the running of events, which provides opportunity to share in many rewarding experiences with your child.

Each age group has Age Managers, who are usually parents of a child in that group, and are also volunteers. If you sign your child up to Little Athletics, there is an expectation that you will assist on these evenings, as well as at any Athletics NSW sanctioned carnivals that your child may attend.

Registration fees include a duty bond component which is fully refunded at the end of the season provided the required number of volunteer duties have been met.  Each family will be required to volunteer at least 8 times over the season in order to obtain their duty bond return.  We recommend each family aims to volunteer every 2 weeks in order to ensure they have enough time to achieve this.

All parents/carers must remain on the grounds during competition and training. No child should be left unattended. If a child is found unattended without a supervising adult,  the appropriate authorities will be called and the child will not be awarded points for that night of competition.

All athletes are expected to wear the club uniform, that is to be purchased at an extra cost to the registration fee. Uniforms can be purchased online during the registration process. Athletes will not be able to receive points on competition night if they are not in full club uniform, displaying their registration number. If your child is cold please put a long sleeve shirt on under their singlet. Jumpers and jackets cover the registration number and registration numbers must be visible at all times.

Results are recorded for athletes U6 and older who participate in the Friday events. Parents can access the results via Results HQ. If it’s your first time registering, click on ‘trouble logging in’ to reset your password.

For more information on the current program, refer to the ‘Program‘ link under ‘Season info’.

During the season the athletes compete in a Points Score Competition for their appropriate age group. Points are awarded and accrued throughout the season for each event, in each age group with an overall age champion awarded at the end of the season.

We also conduct a Club Multi Championship, in which athletes compete in a set number of events, depending on their age group (an age appropriate heptathlon/decathlon style event).

Throughout the season, optional (but encouraged) training is held on Sunday, Monday and Wednesdays. More information can be found on our Training page.
