E.S. Marks Athletics Field is well served by public transport. For more information on public transport click here.
Randwick Racecourse has been confirmed as a parking option for the event. A $10 parking charge applies.
Lining up for events
Kids must be at the call room 15 minutes before their scheduled track event time and 10 minutes prior for field events. Generally, no announcements will be made. Refer to the yellow highlighted Zone Program for the program and start times.
As a parent/carer it is your responsibility to ensure your child gets to marshalling area on time. You are less likely to miss a call if you are sitting in the Canterbury seating area.
Family Duty
Every family with a child participating at Zone is expected to complete a duty at the event.
An online roster will be set up to help coordinating the duties.
It is a condition of Zone Championships entry that each family with a competitor assists on one of the days. This is in addition to any regular Friday night competition duties, and does not count toward Bond duty fulfilment.
Families will be offered the opportunity to sign up to their preferred Duty slot. If required, the Volunteer Manager will then assign any remaining spots requiring to be filled. If families cannot make your allocated session, it is their responsibility to find someone who can fill it. No-shows may impact future opportunities with Canterbury Athletics Club and result in forfeiting Bond refund for the season.
Team Manager
For any event disputes, please see Team Manager for Canterbury Athletics Club on the day. Do not go directly to the officials.
Full Club uniform must be worn
Athletes must wear full club uniform with correct patch placement, or athletes may be disqualified.
Recognition & Progression:
Junior Athletics
- 7s athletes can compete in Zone Championships. This is purely participatory and there is no further progression.
- 7s athletes who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd at Zone receive medals, while all other age groups receive ribbons for placing or making the final.
- 8s-15s can qualify to progress from Zone to Regional Championships. The first 3-6 athletes from each Zone will progress to Regionals, plus the next best 4 performances across the region.
- 7s athletes that competed at Zone do not progress to the Regional competition. 8s athletes compete at the Region Championships only, ie they do not progress to State Championships.
Senior Athletics
- 16s & 17s athletes are eligible to compete at Zone and Regionals for competition experience.
For relevant information on the pathway progression on the Athletics NSW site: Zone Championships
Note for 7s to 11s athletes
We anticipate an over-subscription of entries in some events. Where more athletes apply than available places, selection will be at the discretion of the Canterbury Athletics Club Committee (considering amongst other things athlete ranking, consistency of performance, volunteer participation and attendance at Club competitions). The Committee will try its best to find an event for any interested athlete.
Regarding number of events & athletes:
- A maximum of four (4) athletes from each Centre/Club (or a greater number at the discretion of the
zone) may be entered in each event in the 7’s-11’s age groups and no athlete may contest more than
four (4) events, excluding relays. - In the 12’s- 17’s (U18), there are no restrictions on the number of athletes a Centre/Club may enter in
an event; however, no athlete may contest more than six (6) events, excluding relays - For Para events, athletes in the 9’s/10’s age group may compete in a maximum of four (4) events;
athletes in the 11-12’s may compete in a maximum of five (5) events; and athletes in the 13-14’s (u15)
and 15’s-17’s (U18) may compete in a maximum of six (6) events
