2021 State Champs Wrap Up

That was our final medal tally across both Littles & Youth State Championships, culminating in one of our most successful State Championship hauls in recent times!

Congratulations to every single athlete who represented Canterbury Little Athletics – you’ve all made us proud πŸ’™

To those athletes whose results weren’t what you were hoping for: don’t give up. Be committed. Train smart. Try your best. Have fun. Do these things consistently and your turn will come.

Some stats for you (only back to 2014 is available):

🌟 Our medal tally from 2019 (there were no champs in 2020) was 5 Gold and 2 bronze medals
🌟 We had 11 x Top 8 finishers compared to 12 x Top 8 finishes in 2019
🌟 Our girls delivered 7 of our medals – including all of the Gold medals
🌟 Our boys won 2 x silver and 3 x bronze
🌟 We had our first relay team (for either boys or girls) qualify for the State Champs (not State Relays). Our Junior Boys team finished in 4th place
🌟 Our medals were spread across the following event groups: Sprints x 1; Distance x 6; Jumps x 1; Throws x 4
🌟 Our 4th to 8th place finishers came from the following event groups: Sprints x 6; Distance x 2; Walks x 1; Jumps x 1; Throws x 1
