We are excited to announce that registrations will open this Saturday, 15 August and we will be running our Little Athletics season, albeit in a slightly different way. The Committee has been working hard alongside LANSW to ensure that we are in a great position to start the season safely.
A number of changes have been introduced this season in order for us to comply with the government’s Return to Play regulations to ensure that we keep our community safe.
It’s important that you read through the information and understand the restrictions and processes in place prior to registering your child.
One change that has the greatest impact is that there are to be strictly no more than 500 individuals allowed on the grounds at any time. This includes athletes, parent/carers and officials.
We are therefore required to introduce the following changes this season:
- REGISTRATION CAPS: Our overall registration numbers for this season are capped to 300 athletes. This means there is limited space in each age group.
- LIMIT ON SPECTATOR NUMBERS: There is a limit on spectators to one (1) parent/carer per family.
We understand this will be difficult, especially for families with young children, but ask that you abide by these requirements at all times, with no exceptions. We cannot permit any non-competing siblings this season, as they will potentially be taking the place of a competing athlete.
Membership will be allocated on a first-in basis and are expected to fill quickly.
To factor into your decision-making before registering, the following processes will also be in place this season:
- Only one (1) parent/carer spectator per family – non-competing siblings will not be permitted to attend
- Download the COVID-Safe app
- Check in using the QR codes that will be placed around the grounds
- Leave as soon as your events are completed
- Maintain a 1.5m distance at all times
- We encourage parents to wear a mask
- Do not attend if you are unwell
- Do not attend if you have been asked to self-isolate or have visited any COVID hotspots or have been in contact with a known case
- Athletes are to carry a small backpack with a water bottle and hand sanitiser.
We know these changes are challenging, but unfortunately, they are necessary in order for us to operate our Little Athletics centre this season. We can’t wait to get started at our first competition night on Friday, 18 September.
